Made in batches with only three ingredients and no gums, thickeners, stabilizers, artificial ingredients, or coloring agents. Slowly cultured, using a traditional 16-hour vat-set process, our organic sour cream is a silky-smooth spoonful of organic goodness.

A Clear Difference In Sustainable Packaging

We have achieved an average 15% reduction in plastic use with our sour cream packaging and European style and Greek yogurts, eliminating 45,000 pounds of plastic annually. In 2019, we began developing the Sustainable Packaging Roadmap to assess the environmental impacts of our current packaging and identify opportunities for improvement. The Roadmap will help us achieve one of our goals of 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging.

FUN FACTS

The cows spend time on pasture year round grazing whenever the weather permits. They graze on the rich, sweet grasses that are typical for Marin and Sonoma Counties in Northern California.

The cows at the twelve family farms that provide milk to Straus graze on sweet grass in the unique, coastal climate of Western Marin and Sonoma Counties in Northern California. This ideal – and idyllic – grazing environment is reflected in the rich flavor of Straus’ organic milk, organic cream and the rest of the organic dairy products.

Our organic yogurt and sour cream products are slowly cultured with carefully selected active, live cultures. Unlike other yogurts, which are incubated inside their plastic cups, we incubate our yogurt in stainless steel vats, and then pour the cooled yogurt into recyclable cups.
