Lavender Hot Chocolate
Submitted by Jerry James Stone
Treehugger’s recipe developer Jerry James Stone kindly shared this wonderful hot chocolate recipe with us. We felt that it was a perfect fit for chilly NorCal evenings.
Time required: 15 min.
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of Straus Organic Whole Milk (reduced fat or non-fat would work too)
- 3 tablespoons of dried lavender
- 1 dark high-quality chocolate bar
- Sugar to taste
Directions:
Warm the milk over a medium-low heat in a small sauce pan. You don't want it to boil; you want it just above "baby safe."
Measure out three tablespoons of lavender.
Add the lavender to the warm milk. Mix the lavender into the warm milk so that it is fully coated and cook for about 15 minutes, until the room becomes aromatic. Then spoon out the lavender pieces.
Add the chocolate bar to the lavender-milk and slowly stir until they combine. Add sugar to the mixture, to taste.
Divide the lavender hot chocolate amongst you and your friends and enjoy!
