POSITION:                     Production Line Lead (PLL)
DEPARTMENT:             Production (110) 
SUPERVISOR TITLE:  Production Manager and Sanitation Supervisor
FLSA:                               Non -Exempt
LOCATION:                    Petaluma/Marshall, CA 
HOURS:                           40 hours/Full- time 

JOB OBJECTIVE: To ensure the consistent quality of our perishable dairy products through the sustained leadership of the production team with the execution of standards and operating procedures to maximize profitability and ensure achievement of all goals.


  • Assists in overseeing the leadership of the production line and assigned team
  • Responsible for their production line team and production processes related to assigned area in the absence of Production Supervisor, and as needed in other areas
  • Acts as a back-up for various roles on the production team, as needed, performing all essential functions of a production team member including ensuring all production processing and packaging is complied with as specified by daily production planning and in a timely manner and to Company standards or better
  • Test and/or verify products before they are packaged
  • Ensure code dates on every packaged product are accurate
  • Must ensure any/all product loss is avoided or minimized
  • Must ensure sanitation of assigned line equipment, including but not limited to: disassembly, sanitizing, and reassembly of production processing equipment, as required and to meet or exceed Company standards
  • Must maintain areas of responsibility neat and clean
  • Must help on product change-overs, when needed
  • Complete data entry reports
  • Must assist with the training of new team members on the assigned line team
  • Must oversee production team member performance, in partnership with Production Supervisor, and make recommendations for coaching, performance improvement, and performance evaluations
  • Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and any/all established processes , whether established by their manager, by the company or by law
  • Must comply with all company health, safety, security and emergency processes and requirements that are communicated to them, whether established by their manager, by the company or by law as well as for assisting with the training and enforcement of these as they pertain to the assigned line team
  • Must work in a safe manner and communicate any safety hazard to a member of management
  • Must participate in operations meetings, leadership meetings, team meetings, biweekly huddles, and other Company meetings as requested
  • Must communicate companywide sustainability goals to assigned line team and manage resources to ensure that sustainability goals are met and/or exceeded 
  • Must maintain excellent attendance
  • Must have excellent communication with all reports and co-workers, treating each with dignity and respect, at all times
  • Must strive to maintain high quality work ethic
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts when required and to work weekends as business needs arise
  • Other duties as requested


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent course work
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Experience in a food production/processing business, preferred
  • Experience in a lead/leadership role, preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel, Navision ERP, and HRIS software programs, preferred


  • Must possess high quality work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment, to calmly respond to equipment or other failures,  and use sound judgment to make quality decisions
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail
  • Must possess a strong comprehension of basic math calculations
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication with all reports and co-workers, treating each with dignity and respect at all times, and be able to maintain a positive working environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, be resourceful and creative, and problem solve with sometimes limited direction
  • Prefer those that are computer literate and also possess a basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, HRIS software programs
  • Prefer those familiar with or that have an aptitude for basic computer and inventory control programs, an aptitude for smart technology, particularly iPhone/iPad, and willingness to expand technical knowledge in these areas
  • Prefer those who can communicate verbally in English and Spanish with cross-functional team members, supervisors and other team members
  • Must be able to adapt and learn new skills in order to stay proficient in operations needed to perform essential functions of this position
  • Willingness to help in urgent situations
  • Schedule flexibility: ability to work any shift and/or weekends to support operation of a 24/7 facility; due to business needs schedules may change without notice


  • Must be manually dexterous
  • Working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • The senses of being able to see, hear and have full power of speech are required
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and stooping, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers. – Repetitive at times.
  • The ability to climb and balance is essential
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work at high elevations (i.e., rooftops, tops of tanks)
  • Working in cold, wet, humid environments
  • Ability to work in high allergen environments
  • Temperatures range from -10° to 100° degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to withstand noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 90 decibels
  • Ability to lift, hold and/or carry 55+ pounds of product unassisted
  • Working on a computer and looking at the computer screen and/or tablet screen
  • Flexibility to work different shifts when required, to be on call after hours, and to work weekends
