Milk Pasteurizer

POSITION TITLE:     Milk Pasteurizer
DEPARTMENT:       Preparation
SUPERVISOR:         Production Manager
FSLA:                         Non-exempt


To ensure the efficient preparation and pasteurization of our fluid milk and the consistent high quality of our perishable dairy products through the execution of standards and operating procedures.  To maximize profitability and ensure achievement of all Company goals.


  • Prepare Products within established standards (yogurt, milk, butter, ice cream etc.)
  • Prepare products in established time frame
  • Ensure that the quality of the product meets or exceeds standards
  • Receive and test raw milk (Charms Test)
  • Prepare and complete data entry reports
  • Minimize product loss
  • Safely operate forklifts and electric and manual pallet jacks
  • Assist with the training of new pasteurizers and limited pasteurizers assistants
  • Follow all company safety rules and procedures, GMPs,  SOPs, and processes as well as assist with the communication, training, and enforcement of these
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, biweekly huddles,  safety meetings and  other meetings as requested
  • Maintain areas of responsibility neat and clean
  • Work in a safe manner
  • Communicate any safety hazards to a member of management
  • Ensure work is produced in the most sustainable manner
  • Maintain excellent attendance
  • Other duties as requested


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a food production/processing business
  • Successful completion of Milk Pasteurizer licensing exam will be required within 60 calendar days of hire

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements

  • Comprehension of basic business math calculations in order to verify accurate costing and billing
  • Must be able to measure or convert measurements in volume and weight
  • Must be able to regularly complete full product line change overs
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems related with your area of responsibility
  • Prefer those who can communicate verbally in English and Spanish with cross-functional team members, supervisors and other team members
  • Previous experience operating a forklift, electric or manual pallet jacks
  • Prefer those  familiar with or that have an aptitude for basic computer and inventory control programs
  • Ability to calmly respond to equipment or other problems and find solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to perform with a high level of professionalism
  • Must be organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of a diverse team and programs
  • Must possess strong listening skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Willingness to help in urgent situations

  • Working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and stooping, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers.  – Repetitive at times.
  • Full organoleptic (sight, smell, taste) as well as audio and vocal senses are necessary to evaluate and make sound decisions on product quality and production processes
  • The ability to climb and balance is essential
  • Temperatures range from -10° to 100° degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to withstand noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 90 decibels
  • Ability to lift, hold and/or carry 55+ pounds of product unassisted
  • Working on a computer and looking at the computer screen
  • Flexibility to work different shifts when required and to monitor and test sanitation or quality parameters when non-compliance occurs
  • Flexibility to work on call after hours and to work weekends
